In a move that turns stereotypes on its head, Ford has announced that the first European customer trials of its all-electric E-Transit are about to kick off. This means that the ubiquitous White Van Man of many an urban myth could soon be Green Van Man.
Prototype E-Transit vehicles will be tested out on the street by leading supermarket, home delivery, postal and utility businesses across Germany, Norway and here in the UK. This is all in preparation of a global E-Transit launch in about a year’s time.
The real world trials will feed info and data back to Ford tech HQ and the models will be refined to meet customers’ needs. Uppermost in many delivery drivers’ minds will be the range an E-Transit can deliver, currently standing at up to 217 miles.
