It wasn’t too long ago that we were heralding the battery firm British Volt and its planned £3.8bn gigafactory plant in the North East. Now it is struggling and required a five week reprieve from an anonymous source, injecting funds to hopefully underpin future stability.
But all is not well. We’re hearing that employees have agreed a salary cut for November in an effort to reduce costs.
So the search for much larger, longer-term funds continues, having been rebuffed this week by business secretary Grant Shapps who chose not to increase the Government’s own funding of the venture.
