Today’s the day that Honda Swindon closes its doors and 3,000 people lose their jobs, as well as the many hundreds in the supply chain who rely on Honda’s UK manufacturing site.
It has been four months since Honda of the UK Manufacturing announced the sale of its Swindon site to developer Panattoni, Europe’s largest developer of industrial and logistics facilities.
Honda has been synonymous with Swindon for well over 30 years and has provided good, solid jobs.
Today that will all go.
Everyone who works in the UK automotive sector will feel for the workers and here at NTK Motors we hope that the growth in other areas – gigafactories, niche car makers – will help see them back in good jobs soon.
