Range anxiety – one of the main reasons people are still hesitating about going the EV route – has been banished, at least for those driving the Lucid Air Dream Edition R which has achieved a record-breaking and fully-official EPA range rating of 520 miles on a single charge.
Now, we all know that the EPA estimated ranges are just a general guideline for consumers when comparing vehicles, but we all use them and we all rely on them. So 520 miles for the Lucid it is, as far as Need To Know Motors is concerned.
As they are now shouting from the rooftops, that makes it the longest range electric car ever — beating the closest competition by over 100 miles.
Apparently (if this is where you are at) you could drive your Lucid all the way up the Pacific Highway from LA to San Francisco without stopping.
No wonder Lucid CEO sounds chuffed to bits: “I’m delighted that our Lucid Air Dream Edition Range has been officially accredited with a range of 520 miles by the EPA, a number I believe to be a new record for any EV. Crucially, this landmark has been achieved by Lucid’s world-leading, in-house EV technology, not by simply installing an oversize battery pack.”
As their press release says, 520 miles is more than a world record. It’s a paradigm shift of what’s possible.
