If you drive a Range Rover or a Land Rover, you’re at a pretty high risk of having it stolen…but also of having it recovered and returned. So says stolen vehicle recovery (SVR) expert Tracker’s latest data. In fact, the top three SVR vehicles are all Range Rovers: the Sport, Vogue and Autobiography.

To be honest, we don’t know what to make of this report. If you run one of these big cars, should you be more worried because it’s got a decent chance of being nicked? Or should you sit back and wait for it to come home again?
Chris Wain, Head of Police Liaison for Tracker, said that most premium 4x4s are prime targets for thieves: “Range Rover and other Land Rover models have always featured in our top ten most stolen and recovered league table in the last 10 years, as has the BMW X5 which has slipped from 2nd to 4th position in 2020. However, most premium 4×4 cars are hot targets, with car thieves stealing to order, often shipping them abroad or stripping them for parts in a chop shop to meet the growing demand for spare parts.”
