Have you seen the new Peugeot hypercar? No? OK, well have you seen a Batmobile? Well, think Batmobile with a lion badge. It really is that hot.
First, let’s get the name out the way: the 9X8. Apparently the 9 has been used on previous Peugeot race cars; the X refers to the hypercar’s all-wheel drive (so why is that an ‘X’?); and the 8 has been used in other models such as the 208. Bit of a boring explanation, isn’t it? But the car is enaything but boring.
Just look at it! It is set to make its competitive debut in the FIA World Endurance Championship in 2022 and is seen as a direct successor to the PEUGEOT 905, winner of the Le Mans 24 Hours in 1992 and 1993, and the PEUGEOT 908, which won the iconic race in 2009.
We’d love to tell you more but, to be honest, we got lost in the brand-focussed, marketing bollocks gobble-de-gook of the press release.
Anyway, back to the car. It’s a belter!
