Just five years after its launch, the millionth Peugeot 3008 has rolled off the production line at its Sochaux factory in eastern France. Who would have thought? One million of the humble 3008 which, to be frank, is punching well above its weight in a very crowded market.
So it’s an impressive achievement and speaks volumes about Peugeot’s reach and penetration on a global basis. Employees gathered around the new 3008 Plug-in Hybrid to celebrate the production of the one millionth vehicle, which is made in both France and China.
To be fair, from the outset this has been a much-garlanded car, with plaudits coming at from left, right and centre, including the prestigious Car of the Year award in 2017. In Europe, it comes in second place in the SUV segment in 2021 and the 3008 has taken a strong position in Southern Europe, where it is number one in Portugal and number two in Italy and Spain.
So, fair play to Peugeot. Here at Need To Know Motors we salute you.
