Mini Soft-top is Coming Home

Good news for UK car manufacturing: the next-generation Mini Convertible is going to be built at the Oxford plant, BMW has said.

But for the Oxford plant it’s a case of win some/lose some, as it will no longer be building the electric hatchbacks it currently makes, although the maker reckons those will come back to Oxford at some time.

Currently being built in the Netherlands, production of the Convertible will come home to Oxford in the next couple of years or so.  There will be up to six models being built in total, not all in Oxford.

It’s good news, not all good, but not all bad either.
