We all know Marshall Motor Group, don’t we? We know them as one of the country’s leading and most active dealer groups. And here at Need To Know Motors we rate them very highly.
Now Marshall Motor Holdings Plc has bought Motorline Holdings Limited (including all of its subsidiaries) for £64.5m funded from the Group’s cash resources.
This gives Marshall a hell of a lot of extra outlets – 48 operating selling everything from Skoda to Maserati across Kent, Sussex, Surrey, Berkshire, the South West, South Wales and the Midlands…and an additional 1,500 people on the payroll.
You’ve got to admit, it’s one hell of a move and it gives Marshall a number of key market advantages, including:
- entry to the Toyota and Lexus brands – Motorline is the second largest retail partner for Toyota and Lexus in the UK with 19 franchises;
- entry to Hyundai – Motorline is the joint second largest Hyundai retail partner in the UK with seven franchises;
- strengthens the Group’s number one position in terms of scale and depth of relationship with Volkswagen Group through new locations with the Volkswagen, Audi and ŠKODA brands in attractive territories, together with additional Volkswagen Group TPS locations;
- takes the Group’s brand coverage to 86%, enabling synergies for used vehicle remarketing and fleet sales.
Daksh Gupta, Marshall’s Group Chief Executive, commented: “We are delighted to announce the acquisition of Motorline which is in line with our strategy which includes growing both further scale with existing brand partners and developing scaled relationships with selected new brand partners.
“Motorline is an extremely well-respected, long-standing business.”
