Kia’s Best Ever 1st Half Year Market Share

Kia is reporting that it has enjoyed its best ever first-half year market share in the UK, with over 45,000 vehicles sold in Jan-June, and more than 9,000 of them being in June itself. This has given the manufacturer a best market share of 5% overall.

Even better news from Kia is that fully electric vehicles have made up 14 per cent of this total, with 6,497 units registered so far this year.

Paul Philpott, President and CEO of Kia UK Limited, commented: “After a challenging 2020, the first half of 2021 has seen our sales bounce back to near pre-pandemic levels – and our market share grow to a new all-time high. Our UK-wide dealer network has been key to this success, adapting to offer customers a range of options for completing their purchase, remotely or face-to-face.

“At this mid-year point, there is a greater sense of optimism in the market than in 2020. We’ve built a good foundation from which to tackle the second half of the year and we have an exciting few months ahead as we introduce the Kia EV6 to market.”

Unsurprisingly, the Sportage is the company’s number-one best-seller in the UK, with 16,310 units registered so far this year. Kia reports that the Sportage is also the seventh best-selling vehicle in the UK through the first half of 2021.

Impressive stuff.
