As if the speculation about an embarrassing relegation out of the Premier League isn’t enough for Everton FC, news arrives that the lucrative £10 million sponsorship deal it has had for the last two years has been ended.
Everton, always the poor relation to their mighty neighbours in red, has also suffered bumpy financial times thanks to its tie-in with various Russia-related funds. And now it seems that this deal has rocked them further, like a Mo Salah hitting the back of the net.
Apparently it has not been possible to agree ‘suitable terms’ for the sponsorship deal to continue.
It is worth noting that Cazoo’s far more high-profile sponsorship of Aston Villa, where former Red Steven Gerrard is manager, continues and appears to be in good health.
