In a report that is bound to cause a stir in the retail motor trade, new researchfrom Zegami shows nearly one in five drivers (18%) plan to hire a car in the next 12 months…and that more than a third (34%) would be renting a vehicle for the first time. A main focus is on saving money.
Zegami commissioned the survey of 1,040 people across the UK, representing the UK’s demographic profile, and the findings highlight the growing demand in the car rental market. It’s a warning shot across the bow for car retailers.
The survey indicates that the under-45s are leading the way away from car ownership and towards car rental.
Zegami says its research shows demand is being driven by holidaymakers but also by people considering ditching their car to save money and help the environment.
Roger Noble, CEO and founder of Zegami said:
“Renting a car is becoming increasingly popular and helps save money as well as cutting emissions as fewer drivers own vehicles.”
