Electric Cars Now Account for 14% or New Car Market

Ecotricity Charging Point

Anyone still doubting the potential for electric vehicles in the UK market has to think again, in the wake of the latest figures from the SMMT.

If you combine the sales of BEVS (battery electric vehicles) and PHEVS (plug-in hybrids) they add up to very nearly 14% (ok, 13.9% if you want to split hairs) of new car sales.  That’s almost double where they were last year.

People, please pay attention. We are witnessing the rise and rise of the electric vehicle.  All we need to see now is a proper, Government-backed fuelling infrastructure and then we’ll really be on our way.
