Con Artist Duped York Retailer for £15,000

Local media in York are reporting that a dealership was targeted by a serial fraudster who has been caught and has been sentenced for stealing £15,000 from a used car retailer.

The York Press reports that David Paterson, aged 57, of Poulton le Flyde, Lancashire, formed a business relationship with the dealership, brokered the sale of four vehicles but kept the proceeds.

Paterson has claimed that his criminal activity had been triggered by PTSD as a result of him suffering a four-week kidnap ordeal in 2008. He was tracked down to the Isle of Wight and pleaded guilty to theft.
