Serious business journals such as the Daily Telegraph are the real champions of disruptors such as Cazoo. These are the new money generators, the new way forward for investors.
But this week the Telegraph reported that Cazoo is ‘struggling to step up a gear as supply problems hold it back’. Meanwhile, The Times is quoting Cazoo’s big cheese Alex Chesterman as dismissing the reported caution amongst investors as ‘irrational fear’.
This at a time when the company’s value of $7 billion has sunk to just over $1 billion in less than a year.
Cazoo has long been hailed as the future of car retailing. Mr Chesterman has long been hailed as the king of disruptors. We write him and his company off at our peril. Watch this space.
