And The Winner Is…Land Rover Defender, WWCOTY

WWCOTY Land Rover Defender

The journalists of the Women’s World Car of the Year judging panel have chosen the Land Rover Defender as the World’s Best Car 2021. Announced yesterday, the award came from the group of 50 motoring journalists from 38 countries who make it clear that these are not ‘women’s cars’ because there is no such thing.

They selected their nine category winners on the key principles that guide car-buyers in general, including safety, value, design and drive dynamics.  The category winners were:

Peugeot 208. Best Urban Car
Skoda Octavia. Best Family CR
Lexus LC 500 Cabrio. Best Luxury CR
Ferrari F8 Spider. Best Performance Car
Peugeot 2008. Best Urban SUV
Land Rover Defender. Best Medium SUV
Kia Sorento. Best Large SUV
Ford F-150. Best 4×4 & Pick-Up
Honda e. Best EV

The vote considered aspects such as safety, performance, comfort, technology and value for money. And, choosing only from models launched between January and December last year, the motoring experts handed the overall prestigious award to the Land Rover Defender.

WWCOTY was created in 2009 by New Zealand motoring journalist Sandy Myhre.  Maggie Barry, Maxine Ashford and Sue Baker are the motoring journalists representing Britain in the WWCOTY group.
