It’s early days, but the reports of busy showrooms are starting to trickle in. it seems that the 12 April re-opening might have been the hit that we all craved. Certainly, the build up to it was pretty febrile, wasn’t it?
Our friends at The Motor Ombudsman (TMO) conducted a snap poll of car retailers just before the Mighty Re-Opening to gauge their views on what demand they expect for new and used cars during Q2 of 2021 versus the same three months in 2019 prior to the arrival of the Coronavirus pandemic.
TMO said that just over half (53%) of dealers contacted forecasted new car sales to be higher for the April to June period compared to the same quarter two years ago in pre-Covid times. And that just under a third (29%) of survey participants thought that new car demand would be comparatively lower in the second quarter of 2021 versus that seen a couple of years ago.
When it comes to used car purchases, 70% are estimating this to be higher in Q2 2021 compared to Q2 2019.
So, as 12 April dawned, it was all to play for. In the coming days we will see how it has gone. Here at NTK Motors we’re optimistic. How are you feeling, now the first few days are done? Let us know via andy@needtoknowmotors.com
